Entangled Privacy Policy

Account Information

When you create an Entangled account, we collect your email address, display name, date of birth, and password (stored as a secure hash). If you sign in via Apple or Google, we receive a unique identifier and, optionally, your name and email from that provider.

Profile Information

You choose what to share on your profile, which may include photos, a bio, gender identity, relationship orientation, location preferences, and interests. Couple profiles contain information contributed by both linked partners.

Location Data

We collect approximate location coordinates (not precise addresses) solely for showing you nearby profiles. You control the discovery radius in your settings.

Usage Data

We automatically collect information about how you interact with the app, including device type, operating system version, app version, session duration, feature usage patterns, and crash reports. This data helps us improve the service.

Messages and Content

Messages, photos, forum posts, agreements, and other content you share through the app are stored on our servers. Disappearing photos are deleted after expiration (see Data Retention below).

When you delete your account, we perform a soft deletion immediately (your profile becomes invisible) followed by permanent purging of all personal data within 30 days. Some anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytics purposes.

8. Automated Decision-Making

Entangled uses algorithmic matching to suggest compatible profiles based on your preferences, location, relationship orientation, and interaction patterns. This automated processing helps us deliver relevant matches but does not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you.

You can influence algorithmic recommendations by updating your preferences, swiping behavior, and profile details at any time. The matching algorithm does not use sensitive categories such as race, religion, or political affiliation as direct matching factors.

9. Cookies and Tracking

Entangled is a mobile application and does not use cookies, web beacons, or third-party analytics trackers. We do not serve advertisements or share data with advertising networks.

If you visit our website (getentangled.net), the site is a static page and does not set cookies or track your browsing activity.

10. Your Rights (GDPR, CCPA, and Other Regulations)

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

You can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you. We will provide this in a portable, machine-readable format (JSON) within 30 days of your request.

Right to Correction

You can update your profile information directly in the app at any time, or contact us to correct any inaccurate personal data.

Right to Deletion

You can delete your account from within the app (Settings > Delete Account), or request deletion by emailing us. Account deletion is processed within 30 days. Certain data may be retained where required by law (e.g., financial records).

Right to Data Portability

You can request an export of your data in a structured, commonly used format. We will fulfill portability requests within 30 days.

Right to Restrict Processing

You can request that we limit how we process your data in certain circumstances, such as while we verify the accuracy of contested information.

Entangled is operated from the United States. If you access the service from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our servers are located.

We take steps to ensure that your data receives an adequate level of protection regardless of where it is processed. By using Entangled, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other jurisdictions where we or our service providers operate.

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on your explicit consent and the necessity of processing for the performance of our contract with you as the legal bases for data transfer.

We may send you service-related emails (account verification, security alerts, subscription changes) that are necessary for the operation of your account. These are not marketing and cannot be opted out of while your account is active.
